Technology & Security: How We’re Protecting Members in a Digital World

Posted on September 12, 2024

As digital banking continues to evolve, On Tap Credit Union is committed to staying ahead of the curve in protecting your financial information. With more of our members conducting their banking online, ensuring your personal data remains secure is our top priority. Here’s a look at the steps we’re taking to safeguard your information and what you can do to stay protected.

What We’ll Never Ask For

When verifying your identity, On Tap Credit Union will never ask for:

  • A full social security number
  • Full card numbers
  • A one-time online banking security access code
  • The CVV code or PIN for a card

These sensitive pieces of information are critical to your security. Any request for this data via phone, text, or pop-up messages should be treated with caution. Always contact us if you’re unsure about the legitimacy of a request.

Advanced Card Security with EMV Chips

To keep your transactions secure, we offer EMV Chip Credit and Debit Cards equipped with advanced technology that generates a unique transaction code with every purchase. This helps protect your information in real-time, making it harder for fraudsters to misuse your card.

Proactive Fraud Prevention with SecurLOCK®

If fraudulent activity is detected on your debit or credit card, our SecurLOCK® service will notify you immediately. This allows for swift action and ensures suspicious transactions are handled quickly and securely.

Take Control with Lock It Card Control™

Our Lock It Card Control™ feature allows you to temporarily lock your debit and credit cards directly through our mobile banking app. This tool gives you full control over when and where your card can be used, providing peace of mind.

Multi-Factor Authentication and E-Statements

For added security, On Tap Credit Union employs Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA), requiring a Secure Access Code to verify your identity. This added layer makes it more difficult for unauthorized users to access your accounts.

We also encourage members to use e-statements, a secure and convenient way to monitor your accounts and avoid mail fraud. Regularly reviewing your account activity through online or mobile banking can help you detect unauthorized transactions early.

Online and Phone Security

With the rapid advances in technology, On Tap Credit Union is deeply committed to protecting your account from fraud attacks. As part of our security measures, you may be asked to provide a new Secure Access Code periodically when logging into online and mobile banking. While this extra step may slightly increase your login time, it significantly enhances the security of your accounts, ensuring that only authorized users can access them.

Online & Mobile Banking: Anytime, Anywhere Access

Access your On Tap accounts anytime, from anywhere, on any device with On Tap Online & Mobile Banking. These powerful tools allow you to:

  • View e-statements

Our mobile banking app also offers the convenience of Mobile Check Deposit, enabling you to deposit checks right from your phone.
